GLA:D

Dr. Theo demonstrating rehabilitation exercises

The Program

The GLA:D program is considered the gold standard for management of Osteoarthritis symptoms. It takes an evidence-based approach and consists of 3 parts.

Education:

To start the program you undergo 2 education sessions to ensure you have an understanding of osteoarthritis, what affects your condition, and management strategies.

Neuromuscular Exercise Sessions:

Group exercise sessions performed twice a week which focus on joint health and strengthening your joints to maximize function and minimize pain.

Data Collection:

Sharing your experience with a central registry is optional, but gives information about the success of the program and allows for advocacy at the provincial and national levels to help others also living with OsteoArthritis.

What To Expect

For your first appointment to our clinic you should schedule about an hour to 80 minutes of your time in clinic. Paperwork will be sent to you beforehand to give us information about your condition and overall health. If you can’t complete this beforehand, you should arrive to your first appointment 15 minutes early.

After your chiropractor receives your paperwork, they will conduct a thorough history which includes questions about the pain you experience and your general health. She will then conduct a physical examination which involves moving your joints to recreate your pain.

Once your chiropractor finishes your physical examination, you will have a discussion together about your diagnosis and treatment plan moving forward.

If your referral to the GLA:D program is appropriate, we will perform baseline testing to see the overall functioning of your joints and how much it impacts certain activities of daily living.

Associated Costs
